An exhibition of continuing electrical lighting in Dundee, Scotland in a public assembly. by one James Bowman Lindsay as truly exciting.  He is later acknowledged as being the creator of the incandescent bulb.  Shame he did not pursue this much more, one wonders what elese this brilliant man could have conjured up for us.

We take for granted the electric light bulb.  We think no ore of switching on the lights than we do breathing in the fresh air every day.  When we think back to only a couple of hundred years ago, when families all had to risk their lives with candles and glow bulbs – a large glass bowl in which a candle could be stood so it reflected the light to extend the day . . .   We e so very lucky to be able to have light sources so readily available.  Mind you without the discovery of electricity, this would have been rather a waste!
