Old Conversion Needs New Lighting Scheme
I had the interesting opportunity of visiting a recently moved into school house conversion – right out in the sticks and the sort of place that would be jumped at on the escaping the rat race kind of tv lifestyle shows. It has huge space, airy high ceilings and beams. Having managed to negotiate my way around without knocking myself out, I noted the very pretty lighting sconces on the walls – there is a strangely medieval air about this building – it was built in around 1830 on the estate of a stately house. It seems to have a rather confused look – part castle and part school room. The lighting needs sorting though because the main lights are single light bulb in the middle of the room, so high that you can’t reach them on an ordinary ladder! An expert eye to quote for a useable lighting scheme seems to be the order of the day.
