Now we have entered into a New Year (hello 2017!) we are getting to the point when we will be taking down any left over Christmas decorations, and lights are often a large part of this task. Here’s a guide to looking after your christmas lights to ensure many years of use.
Lots of people choose to leave their lights up 365 days per year. This isn’t really a good diea, as although they are a pain to put up and take down each year, leaving them up actually damages them much more. Plugging them in and finding that half of them have broken or burnt out is not fun! One way round the problem of burning out is to switch to LED lights, we last much longer.
If your lights are damaged beyond repair, you can look for somewhere to dispose of them. It is possible to recycle lights, but do check with your local facility that they take lights.
